Halloween Spy Game for a Telegram Group
Spy is the party game where everyone knows the secret place except one player, and the group has to work out who's bluffing. SpyPartyProBot runs it inside a Telegram group, so nobody deals out paper slips or whispers locations across a table.
Until 1 November 2026 there's a Halloween round on top of the normal game. It uses eight spooky places, from a haunted house to a corn maze, and it's free for every group. You start it with /spyhalloween.
Once the season ends, the Halloween places go away and the normal game stays exactly as it was. /spy keeps working all year with its ten free locations, so a group that likes the format doesn't lose anything on 2 November.

Steps
- Add the bot and open the lobby. Add SpyPartyProBot to your group. It doesn't need admin rights. Send /spyhalloween and the bot posts the usual lobby card with a Join button and a Start button. While the season runs, the card has one extra button called Halloween round.
- Have everyone join and press Start in private. Each player taps Join, which opens a private chat with the bot. The player presses Start there once, and the bot confirms. That step matters because a bot can't write first to a person. A player who skips it is left out of the round, and if fewer than 3 players receive a role, the round is cancelled.
- Start the Halloween round. When 3 to 12 players have joined, the host or a group admin taps Halloween round. The plain Start button beside it plays the normal pack instead, so tap the right one. The bot picks one of the eight Halloween places, which are Haunted House, Cemetery at Night, Pumpkin Patch, Costume Party, Horror Film Set, Witch's Shop, Abandoned Hospital and Corn Maze.
- Read your private message. Every player but one gets the place and a role, such as Gravekeeper at the cemetery or Director on the film set. The spy gets a message saying so, plus the list of the eight places. Nothing about roles appears in the group before the reveal.
- Ask questions for eight minutes. Players take turns asking each other questions in the group. A good question is specific enough to catch a bluffer and vague enough not to hand the place to the spy. The spy has to sound like someone who has been to the Witch's Shop before.
- Vote, guess and reveal. Players tap Vote and pick who they think the spy is. The spy can tap Guess the place in the private message and pick one of the eight, but there's only one guess and a wrong one loses the round. When everyone has voted or the eight minutes are up, the bot posts the reveal in the group. Send /spyhalloween again for another round.
Good to know
- The Halloween round costs nothing and doesn't need Pro. The reveal of a Halloween round has no Pro button or offer, and these rounds don't count toward the Pro prompt that normal rounds can trigger.
- The season is gated by UTC dates. It opened at the start of 21 October 2026 and closes at the end of 1 November 2026, so a group far ahead of or behind UTC may see it switch over at an odd local hour. After that, /spyhalloween answers with one short line and writes nothing. An old Halloween button does the same.
- The normal game is untouched. Free rounds use 10 places, a round takes 3 to 12 players and lasts 8 minutes. Pro is a one-time payment of 150 Telegram Stars for one group and opens all 40 places for every round in that group.
- Eight places make the spy's guess easier than in a 40-place pack, so play tighter questions than you would in a normal round. Hosts who find it too easy can switch to the plain Start button and use the regular list.
- Each player gets the role in the language of their own Telegram. The Halloween set is written for 11 languages. Players on Persian, Arabic or Hindi get a milder wording for two places, with a lighthouse in fog instead of the cemetery and an old potion shop instead of the witch's shop.
- A lobby card posted before the Halloween update may not show the extra button until someone joins and the card refreshes. If you can't see it, ask one more player to tap Join.
FAQ
- Is the Halloween spy round really free?
- Yes. From 21 October to 1 November 2026 any group can start it with /spyhalloween and the Halloween round button, without Pro and without a payment prompt at the end of the round.
- What happens to the game after 1 November?
- The Halloween places stop. /spyhalloween replies that the round isn't running and points back to /spy. The normal game, with 10 free places and the optional Pro pack of 40, keeps working exactly as before.
- How many players do we need, and why did someone get no role?
- Between 3 and 12. Every player must open the private chat with the bot and press Start once, because the bot can only message people who have done that. A player who didn't is left out of that round and can join the next one.
- How does the spy win in a Halloween round?
- The same way as in a normal round. The spy wins if the group accuses the wrong player, if the vote has no clear majority, or if the spy picks the right place from the list of eight. The spy gets one guess, and a wrong guess loses.
