Birthday reminder bot for Telegram groups

Members save their birthday once; the bot greets them in the group and warns everyone else the day before.

BirthdayBot lets each member of a Telegram group save their own birthday once with /bday. On the day, at 09:00 in the group's timezone, the bot posts a greeting in the group naming whoever's birthday it is.

/upcoming lists the next birthdays coming up in the group so nobody is caught off guard, and Pro groups get a DM sent to every other member the day before, so people have time to say something or grab a gift.

Privacy

• Each member's birthday is stored per group as day and month, plus an optional year if you choose to include one — nothing is stored beyond what you send with /bday.
• A birthday saved in one group is not shared with any other group the bot is in; leaving a group and asking the bot to forget removes that row.
• The day-before DM reminder (Pro) only reaches members who have started a private chat with the bot; it never messages someone the bot can't already DM.

FAQ

What format does /bday expect?

Day-month as DD-MM, e.g. "14-03" for March 14th. Adding a year (DD-MM-YYYY) is optional and is only used to show an age in the greeting, never required.

Can other members see my birth year?

Only if you chose to include one when you ran /bday — the day and month always show in greetings, but the year is optional and only affects the age shown.

What time does the group greeting post?

09:00 in the group's timezone, set with /tz. If /tz hasn't been set, the bot defaults to UTC.

What does Pro add?

A DM sent to every other member of the group the day before someone's birthday, so people have a day's notice, for a one-time 150 Stars payment per group.
