Event Countdown Timer for Telegram Groups: Live With @CountdownDaysBot
When a group is waiting for something — a product launch, a stream going live, an exam, a trip — the question "when is it actually happening?" gets asked over and over. A pinned countdown message answers it before anyone asks: the bot posts a card that updates in place, always showing the live time remaining.
CountdownDaysBot does exactly this and nothing else. One command posts the countdown; the card ticks down in the chat where everyone already is, so nobody has to open a calendar app or trust someone's mental math across time zones.
Because it runs inside Telegram there's nothing to install and no account to create. Anyone in the group can post one, and anyone can see it — which is the whole point of a group countdown.
Before sharing the event, read the countdown bot setup and limits. It explains how to create a timer and keep the countdown message in your group.

Steps
- Add @CountdownDaysBot to your group. It needs to be a member of the chat to post and update the countdown card. No admin rights are required.
- Post the countdown with /countdown. Example: /countdown 2026-12-06 19:00 Launch stream starts! The bot takes a full date (year-month-day), an optional time, then the label. With no time, the countdown ends at midnight of that day in the chat's time zone.
- Set the group's timezone once with /ctz. Times are read as UTC by default. Run /ctz +2 so "at 19:00" means your actual 7pm — do it once and every future countdown in that group is correct.
- Check what's coming with /countdowns. Lists every active countdown in the group with its exact time, so new members can catch up without scrolling.
- Get the precise next one with /next. /next shows the nearest upcoming countdown with an exact time-remaining breakdown — handy right before the moment hits.
- Remove it with /stop when it's over. /stop 3 cancels countdown id 3 so the card stops updating — keep the chat clean after the event passes.
Good to know
- Free: 2 active countdowns per group at once. Pro removes the cap, puts your own emoji on the card and updates the card every hour in the last 2 days, for a one-time 150 Stars (≈ $3) payment per group.
- The countdown card updates in place — it doesn't spam the chat with a new message every minute.
- Times are always shown with the UTC offset so mixed-timezone groups can convert at a glance; /ctz sets the group's default.
- Anyone in the group can create a countdown. Only its creator or a group admin can stop it with /stop.
- It's a group tool first: in a private chat it works too, but the live shared card is where it earns its place.
- A concrete use: a gaming community is counting down to a season launch on 2026-12-06 at 19:00. An admin runs /ctz +2 once, then /countdown 2026-12-06 19:00 Season launch! The bot posts a card that ticks down in place, so the pinned message always shows the live time remaining without spamming the chat. As the moment nears, /next gives an exact hours-and-minutes breakdown. When the launch passes, /stop 1 cancels countdown id 1 and the card stops updating. With 2 free countdowns, the group can also run a stream countdown at the same time.
FAQ
- Does the countdown update live in the chat?
- Yes — the bot edits the same message in place, so the card always shows current time remaining without flooding the chat.
- How many countdowns can a group have at once?
- 2 active on the free tier. /pro removes the cap for unlimited concurrent countdowns in that group.
- What time formats does /countdown accept?
- A full date with an optional time: /countdown 2026-12-06 Community event, or /countdown 2026-12-06 18:00 Launch. It does not read words like tomorrow or a weekday. /ctz sets which timezone those times mean.
- Can I see a precise time remaining right before the event?
- Yes — /next shows the nearest upcoming countdown with an exact hours/minutes breakdown.
