Steps

Add the bot to your group. Tap the button on this page and add @BirthdayReminderProBot to the chat. It doesn't need any admin right.
Set the group's timezone. Send /gtz +2 (use your own offset) so the greeting lands at 9 in the morning local time. Without it the bot counts in UTC. Once it's set, only a group admin can change it.
Let everyone save their date. Each member writes /bday 14-03 in the group, day first and then month. The year is optional, and the bot never shows an age.
Check the list. /upcoming lists the upcoming birthdays, soonest first, with the days left for each.
Optional: a private countdown. In a private chat with the bot, send /bdmon to get a daily countdown message during the 7 days before your own birthday, and one on the day. /bdmoff turns it off. Your date has to be saved in a group already.

Dates are stored per group. /forgetme deletes yours from every group after you confirm.
The private day-before message (Pro) only reaches members who have already pressed Start in a chat with the bot.
