How to See Telegram Group Statistics (Without Reading Every Message)
If you admin a Telegram group, at some point you have looked for a stats button and not found one. That's because Telegram's built-in Statistics tab only appears for groups above 500 members (and channels above 50 subscribers), and even then it shows coarse numbers — member growth, message volume, top days — but nothing about which members are actually active.
For the majority of groups — a team chat, a study group, a community under 500 people — there is no native statistics view at all. The answers have to come from a bot that watches the group.

Steps
- Check for the built-in Statistics tab. Open your group, tap the group name at the top, and look for a Statistics entry. If you see one, your group passed the threshold (500+ members for groups) and you get member growth, message counts by day, and top hours — all without adding anything.
- No Statistics tab? You need a bot. For groups under the threshold, add @GroupPulseBot to the group and promote it to admin. It needs admin rights only to see that messages happen (privacy mode off); it never stores what anyone wrote.
- Get today's picture. Send /stats in the group: the bot replies with a leaderboard of the most active members today, their message share, and a busiest-hour breakdown. /week gives the same over the last 7 days.
- Find who drifted away. Send /quiet to list members who have stopped posting — useful for re-engaging a community before it goes silent. Each member can also check their own rank privately.
- Automate the weekly report. With Pro (one-time 150 Stars per group), the bot posts an activity report automatically every Monday at 09:00 UTC, and retention extends from 14 to 90 days so you can compare months.
Good to know
- Channel statistics (for broadcast channels) appear at 50+ subscribers and are richer than group statistics — they include growth and notification-off rates.
- Bot-based statistics count messages, not readers: a member who reads everything but never posts will appear quiet. That's an inherent limit of any in-chat tracker.
