How to Find Inactive Members in a Telegram Group
A group can have 300 members and 12 people who write. An admin who wants to wake the group up first needs one fact: who wrote before and then stopped.
The member list of Telegram does not give this. It shows a last seen time, which says when a person last opened Telegram, not whether he writes in your group. Reading the history by hand does not work past a few dozen people.
@GroupPulseProBot counts the messages of each member and has one command for this question: /quiet. This guide shows what the command returns, what the group sees, and what the bot cannot know.

Steps
- Add @GroupPulseProBot to the group. Use the button on this page. The bot needs no admin right. It posts one welcome message and starts to count from that moment. It has no numbers for messages that were sent before it joined.
- Let it count for more than a week. For the bot a member is quiet when he wrote before and has not written in the last 7 days. So the list stays empty in the first 7 days after you add the bot.
- Send /quiet in the group. The bot answers in the group with a list: Gone quiet (posted before, not in the last 7 days). Each line has a name and the number of messages the bot counted from that member before. The member with the most messages comes first. Every member of the group sees this answer.
- Read the free limit. On the free plan the list shows 3 names, then a line that says how many more went quiet. Pro for the group shows the full list, up to 50 names.
- Look at the other side with /pulse week. /pulse week shows who wrote most in the last 7 days, the total number of messages, the number of active members and the busiest hour. The two commands together tell you who carries the group and who dropped out.
- Decide by hand what to do. The bot removes nobody. The next step is yours: mention a quiet member in a topic he cared about, ask him a direct question, or accept that the group is smaller than its member count.
Good to know
- A member who wrote nothing since the bot joined is never in the list. The list holds only people who posted before.
- The free plan keeps 14 days of counts. A member who has been silent for more than 14 days has no counts left and leaves the list. With Pro the bot keeps 90 days.
- The bot counts messages, not reading. A member who reads everything and never posts looks the same as a member who muted the group.
- The bot stores counts only: how many text, media and other messages each member sent each day. It never stores the text of a message.
- Every Monday the bot posts a weekly recap in the group. A group admin can stop it with /recap off. The Pro recap also names who went quiet.
- Pro is a one-time payment of 150 Telegram Stars for one group. /reset wipes the counts of the group; only a group admin can run it.
FAQ
- Can Telegram show inactive members of a group?
- The member list shows when a person was last online in Telegram. It does not show whether he writes in your group. For that a bot must count the messages.
- Does /quiet show members who never wrote?
- No. The bot lists only members who posted after it joined and then stopped for 7 days. A member who only reads is not in the list.
- Does the bot remove inactive members?
- No. It shows the list in the group and changes nothing. An admin decides what to do.
- Does the bot read our messages?
- It receives each message to count it and stores the count only, never the text.
