Daily Question Bot for Telegram Groups
Quiet Telegram groups often just need a small, recurring nudge to get people talking — one question a day is enough to restart a conversation without anyone having to think of a topic. IcebreakerDailyBot posts a fresh conversation-starter to your group every day at a set hour, pulled from a bundled pack of questions, and members just reply underneath it.
There's no setup beyond turning it on and no scoring or forced participation — it's a daily prompt, not a game.
It's meant to run in the background of a group indefinitely: once an admin turns it on, the group doesn't have to think about it again unless someone wants to pause it, change the hour, or switch packs.
It's a good fit for a group that's gone quiet but doesn't want to be dissolved — a low-effort daily nudge tends to bring people back to the chat more reliably than an occasional "anyone still here?" message.
Steps
- Turn it on with /icebreaker on 10:00. An admin runs this in the group to start the daily question. Free groups always post at 10:00 group time regardless of what hour is requested; Pro groups get the hour they ask for.
- Set the group's timezone. /itz +2 sets your UTC offset so the daily post lands at the right local hour instead of UTC 10:00.
- Let members reply under the question. There's nothing special to do — members just reply to the question message like a normal message. The bot counts replies and, every 5th one, edits the message to show "🔥 N answered".
- Pull a question on demand with /question. Posts a question right now, independent of the daily schedule — useful the first time you turn the bot on, or if the day's question got buried.
- Pause or turn it off if needed. /pause and /resume keep your hour and timezone settings while stopping the daily post temporarily; /icebreaker off turns it off entirely.
Good to know
- Free: the 190-question general pack, posted at a fixed 10:00 group-local time — no custom hour on the free tier.
- Pro (one-time 150 Stars per group) unlocks a custom posting hour, five themed question packs (fun, deep, work, travel, food — 35 questions each), and a plain-text answers digest posted at 22:00 listing who replied that day.
- Each group works through its active pack without repeating a question until the whole pack has been used, then reshuffles for a fresh cycle.
- The bot only counts how many people replied — it doesn't read, store, or forward what members actually write in their replies.
- /pause and /resume are useful for a group going through a quiet period (a holiday, a slow week) without losing the hour and timezone settings an admin already configured.
FAQ
- What time does the daily question post?
- Free groups post at a fixed 10:00 group-local time (set your offset with /itz). Pro groups can set any custom hour with /icebreaker on <hour>.
- Do members need to answer in a special format?
- No — they just reply to the question message like any normal Telegram reply. The bot only tallies how many replies came in, not the content.
- Will the group ever see a repeated question?
- No — the general pack has 190 original questions and the bot tracks which ones each group has already seen, cycling through the whole pack before repeating.
- What does Pro add on top of the free pack?
- A custom posting hour, five themed packs (35 questions each on top of the 190 general ones), and a 22:00 digest of who answered that day — all for a one-time 150 Stars payment per group.
