How to Ask Someone an Anonymous Question on Telegram
Telegram attaches your name to every DM and every group message by default — there's no built-in "ask anonymously" option. If you want to ask someone a question without your identity showing, you need to go through their AnonInboxProBot link rather than messaging them directly.
This is a one-way anonymous channel to a specific person, not a random-stranger chat and not a public Q&A board. You're asking someone you already have in mind — a friend, a moderator, someone running an AMA — and the question reaches them without your name on it.
If the person you want to ask hasn't shared a link yet, you'll need to get one from them first, or point them to setting one up so they can start receiving anonymous questions.
Steps
- Get the person's AnonInboxProBot link. It's a personal t.me link tied to their account — look for it in their bio, a group pin, or ask them directly for it.
- Open the link. This starts an anonymous message to that person through the bot — your Telegram identity isn't attached.
- Type your question and send it. It lands in their inbox as an anonymous entry, with no name or username shown to them on the free tier.
- Wait for a reply through the bot. If they answer, their reply comes back to you the same anonymous way — through the bot, not a normal DM.
- Set up your own link if you also want anonymous questions. Message @AnonInboxProBot and run /link (or /start the first time) to get a personal link you can share, so people can start asking you things anonymously too.

- Questions are capped at 1,000 characters and 20 per hour to limit abuse, on both free and Pro, which is generous enough for a real back-and-forth without opening the door to spam.
- You don't need your own AnonInboxProBot account to ask a question — you only need one if you also want people to be able to ask you things back.
- The person you're asking can Block you if the question is abusive, which silently stops any further questions from you with no notice sent to you.
- On the free tier, the recipient never sees who asked — Pro adds limited sender hints for them, more context but not your full identity outright.
- Nothing about the question appears anywhere public — it exists only in the recipient's inbox with the bot and your own DM thread with the bot, not in any group or profile.
